AS I discussed in my unit 6 blog I have had trouble with my computer since like unit 3. I have now gotten the problem fixed I hope and can now enter the class room. This created a huge problem for me since I could not participate in class. Now I am behind everyone else and striving to catch up. I have to make up all the work that everyone else did week by week. Besides my computer issues I have done ok with the research and the writing of my paper.

•         How do you feel about the comments, or lack of comments, that have been made to your blog posts?

I am just getting the posts up on blogger so I can’t expect many comments to be made and I understand that. Everyone is striving to get through this class and deal with everything else in life and late post is a hassle to go back and review.

•         Do you plan to continue your blog even after the course?

I hope to find time to occasionally leave a post to let everyone know what is going on with my life.

•         How do you feel about peer reviews? What have your experiences with them been like?

I think peer reviews can be a very good thing as sometimes you can’t see what is wrong with your paper where a peer may. Peer reviews can also help with initializing another idea for a paper. I have always enjoyed peer reviews and trying to use the outcomes to my advantage.

•         Discuss any “Ah Ha” moments you have had during the writing process or in your research.

I had a hard time figuring out which way I wanted to go with my paper. The pro’s and cons of stem cell research, the history of stem cell research, the controversy of stem cell research and so on. As I did research and started reading about the subject and taking in all the information I finally had a good idea for my paper.

•         Is there anything that you have found shocking or intriguing in the process or your research?

I found that people think that only human embryos can be used for stem cell research when in fact the umbilical cord and its contents can also be used without harm to the fetus or the mother.

•         Share what you have personally been dealing with the last six weeks.

The last 6 weeks have been very busy for me as I am sure all of my class mates have been busy as well. First I would like to say that after unit 3 my computer did something and would not let me into this class. I had to send it to a dell support center after not having any luck with Kaplans’ tech support.I guess my browser setting where not in proper formation for this class or something. I have very slim knowledge about computers other than the use of them,  I have now idea about programming or anything like that. Anyways back to the subject. Instead of just doing nothing I used my time to the best of my ability and wrote my paper on stem cell research even though I could not get into the class room to make sure I was doing everything right. I did the best I could with the knowledge I already had from my College comp. 1 Class. So now I have a choice to scramble and complete all the work that I have missed by terms end and try to pass this class or just except that I am going to fail and start over next term. I never give up on anything and I am not going to give up now I will do my best to complete everything and turn in the paper I have written and take my chances on a passing grade at the end of term. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

•         Consider how your ideas about your topic could be influential in later research.

 My ideas could be influential in later research because my personal opinion could have impact on the type of research articles I decide to use for my paper.I believe that one’s own personal view should be acknowledged but should show no weight on the facts of any particular subject.

•         Discuss your personal writing process and see what others have to say about your style.

1.       When writing a paper I first do the research and read each piece of my research. I then begin to just write. After I have finished writing my thoughts and what knowledge I have gained I then go back and refine my writing and add cited material.

•         If there was one thing about your academic challenges, what would it be?

2.       My number one academic challenge is time. I have three boys who each have their own schedule which I have to adapt to mine as I have to get them to whatever it is that they are doing, I also work full time nights, and I have a farm that needs tending to. My family tries to help as much as possible so that I have time for everything but sometimes it is just not possible. I have researched time management and strategies to time management and tried to use a few some days it just seems like there is just not enough time in one day to do everything.

•         How is school influencing your life at or up to this point?

3.       School is influencing my life at this point as a good thing for the fact that I am trying to better myself. But also it has its disadvantages for example I am at my sons soccer game working on the computer because I have work that has to be done and not enough time to complete it so I have to do it there. It is frustrating to me I have always put my children first and lately I kind of feel like I have put them on the back burner for school. In some ways I know I have to, to better my life and theirs but at the same time I hate to do it because they will only be kids for a while and then I will have missed everything with them growing up.

Unit 4 blog post Plagiarism

•         Based upon your reading on plagiarism, why do you think we need to cite our sources?  

1.       I think we need to cite our sources to give credit to the original thought or person who wrote it.I also think it is important to cite our sources so anyone ready your material can go to the source for more information if necessary.

•         What would you do if someone used something you created without giving you credit?

2.       I would be upset if someone copied my work. I would confront the person and in certain situations where possible make them fix whatever they copied from me and make it their own.

•         Consider some of the real-world plagiarism issues you have learned of that include professionals. How should those issues be handled?

3.       I believe that professional plagiarism should be handled with in reason for each incidence. For example a nurse who copies another nurses vitals from the day before should be punished by the supervisor and made to get her own vitals not only for the fact that they may be different today than yesterday and it could effect the patients life if they were innacurate, but also to show that vitals need to be done on a daily bases and not just copied from the day before.

•         Does the Internet blur the lines of “legally owned”? Consider sites like YouTube and Wikipedia.

4.       Yes I believe that the internet blurs the lines of legally owned materiel. These internet cites show video and music which are created by other and not always do they have the credit for that person.

Feeling very stressed!

 I have fallen behind in this course due to my computer would not let me in to it! The browser settings on my computer would not let me into this class. I had to take it to dell service center to have it fixed to work. I know nothing about computers other than to type and so forth. So anyways now I have to make up all the missed work or fail. I can't afford to fail so I will give it my best shot to try and catch up. Please everyone pray for this to work out ok!

Having a great week!

We have had a lot of rain this week in the North Country, But My family has made the best of it! We took the week getting the house ready for winter and doing little projects together! Anton my 7 year old had a project for school that we all pitched in and helped with. He had to do a poster all about himself.We went through a lot of pictures,and had some good times remembering the past. We finally sold our camper that we have been trying to sell for some time.It sold for $600 and my husband took $20 rented a movie and decided to buy a few lottery tickets (which he never does). Well he bought 4 $2 tickets and ended up winning $200.So we decided with the money we will fill our fuel tank. I usually use my christmas club to buy fuel in the bigining of the season but now I will be able to use it for christmas. I caught up on a lot of my homework for my classes as well and that has brought my spirit back up for my schooling.
